Born in Seattle, Davis Birks chose his profession as an artist at the age of nine. Moving to Mexico after completing his studies at Arizona State University, Birks settled in Guadalajara in 1987. His career there during sixteen years has been punctuated with polemic exhibitions. His art, method of working and participation in that cultural community have made a significant impact, influencing younger and older artists alike. His exhibitions include major museums and galleries in Mexico, as well as galleries and museums in the United States and Europe. His work can be found in the collections of the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Museum of Fine Arts, Guadalajara. Birks lives and works in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
