Alex Slade's series of photographs chronicle the artist's wanderings throughout the US. He documents sets of locations in the process of transformation, resulting in color photographs of schools, housing community centers, and distribution centers in their provisional state. When finished, the work defines a community that represents the latest installment in the story of the American city, a place where corporate capitalism dominates every aspect of the urban fabric. Slade has been included in exhibitions throughout the U.S. and internationally. Recent exhibitions include the Santa Monica Museum of Art, Prague Biennial 2003, and San Francisco Art Institute. Slade pursued his graduate studies in California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, and currently resides and works in Los Angeles.
