Gary Lang was born in 1950 in Los Angeles, California. He received his BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia in 1972 and his MFA from Yale University in 1975. His paintings reside in important public and private collections such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York and the Menil Collection in Texas. Lang's works manifest in hand-painted circles and parallel lines of bright colors, which analyze pictorial space by way of abstraction. He currently lives and works in Ojai, California.
